 It looks like the snow and ice is here to stay for a while. Many people cannot get to work or are choosing to stay at home and work from their computers.

 Whilst checking our phone messages, we came across a very unusual message. Our answer machine had obviously kicked in and recorded an automated phone call.
The call was warning that monthly payments may increase, but a reduced rate of 6.9% could be secured, "press 6 for a live agent now". We put 2 and 2 together and assumed that this might be to do with credit cards.
Obviously this was just a message, but had it been a live call what would have happened if we had pressed 6?

Please circulate this around, we are not sure how true this is, but it's always best to be safe. With Christmas fast approaching, it has apparently been confirmed by Royal Mail and the Trading Standards Office are also trying to make people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

We had an email sent to us and after some research discovered that it was actually a hoax. However, it does bring to light the fact that many people do not have up-to-date Antivirus and do not backup their data regularly.
